While our recent stay offered beautiful scenery, a cozy cabin, and a genuinely helpful, friendly staff, the overall experience did not match the price point. At nightly rates comparable to a four-star hotel, guests expect a higher standard of cleanliness and service.
Upon arrival, the porch and outdoor chairs were filthy and needed a proper wash. We also noticed dead cockroaches throughout the campground. Furthermore, no housekeeping visited during our stay despite an envelope left out for maid tips (which we still left) and charged a cleaning fee.
We were also disappointed by the linen policy. While the website mentions linens can be rented, we were told no upon asking.At these rates, basic linens should be included automatically. Lastly, the amenities were lacking; the arcade was subpar, and there were very few activities for children.
Love the location its quiet and very beautiful. The booking process was very easy. We arrived after closing and they had everything ready for us in a marked envelope for easy information. The front office staff is very honest and helpful and also called to give us more information before our late arrival check in. I would definitely come back!
Just finished up a weekend with my 5yr grandson. We brought him here last year also. This is his special trip of the year. Never disappointed. I cannot say enough about the staff and quality of entertainment. Dinosaur weekend was amazing. From Jurassic Park trilogy movies playing in the garage, to Lizard King bringing his reptiles, then to making amazing KOA Tye Dye shirts that we were able to decorate and bring home. Craft tables, games.... Mary is one of the staff members here that stood out to us. She has been the face of entertainment and crafts for us for our past few visits. So sweet and nice and definitely helpful in the arts & crafts, and always available to help out. I wish I knew everyone's names here bc each of them played such a huge part in us having so much fun this weekend. From the store front, pool, garage, sites,grounds, activities. Everyone in the staff was just amazing. The facilities were impeccable. We really love coming here. Campsites level,clean. Views are amazing. This year they had the water taxi and kayaks available. We didnt use them, however we did see them being used. So much for a lil'one to do here. To also make it more special, due to the wind we couldnt use our fire pit due to us being waterside, however the play area has them (less windy inland) and of course this wonderful place had their firepits roaring and provided amazing music by Heather, and smores by the main firepits that was provided for everyone. Just can not say enough how much this place makes each trip so special. Thank you so much and see you again next visit.
Our family of four came for Father’s Day weekend. Overall we had a great time, beautiful quiet campground, you can see the sun rise and set which we loved. The swimming pier/sound was amazing my 4 and 10 year old loved it. All the amenities were great for the kids especially the pool.
Only cons: the shuttle boat we were told when we arrived doesn’t have a captain on the weekends only Monday thru Thursday which is the shortest way to get to Corolla and we planned to spend time there so we detoured and made the drive to kitty hawk.

Great place, super friendly staff, nice amenities, fun activities. It is a little pricey but expected of a place with such beautiful views. Our only complaint is the pool hours. It is open from 10am until 6pm, the earliest of any campground we have stayed at. Hopefully, the will extend the hours until 8 or 9pm in the future. Other than the pool hours, our stay was great and relaxing.
