The Refuge on Roanoke Island

Love this place, tucked away in a charming fishing village area. We have stayed here several times & have always had good experiences. Our hostess, Kathy, went above & beyond to make us comfortable and cool on a day when the heat index was 104, our camper ket throwing a breaker, she came immediately and let us borrow a 50 to 30 amp plug in... problem solved! This resort is reasonably priced, has a pool, pavilions, bath houses and a great pond that my husband likes to fish. We back right up to the water edge, put out our chairs & enjoy the views. Thank u again Kathy for alwaysaking us feel at home 😊. See ya next time...

We really enjoy our stay at the Refuge. Sites were very clean and had full hook-up. Has beautiful in ground pool that is heated and well maintained. Nice short nature walk and areas to site watch the sunset. Quick access to shopping.

While traveling from Florida to Ohio, we arranged our campsites in advance. We were looking forward to staying at the Refuge on Roanoke Island from April 25 - April 29th. Unfortunately, we had a problem with a slide on the travel trailer that necessitated canceling our reservation. I explained that we were waiting for a part and needed to change our travel plans. They have a policy that requires 7-day advance notice for cancellations or NO REFUND. They were within their guidelines when declining my refund but attempted to temper this with a 50% application of my funds toward a future date that I had to determine while on the phone at that moment. This is poor business practice and unacceptable. Note that all of the other campgrounds that we had made reservations were accommodating and understanding given that we were dealing with a mechanical problem. The Refuge on Roanoke Island, NC kept our $292.12. I cannot recommend this campground.

The RV park is well kept and has lots of boardwalks for exploring. Lots of long-term RVs here but they put the transients (short term) out by the water so that's really nice. we had a beautiful site and it's close to the Elizabethan Gardens.

Great campground. Well maintained and all waterfront sites. Kathy the manager is amazing. Helped us out when we were having vehicle problems on our departure day. Beautiful views and very quiet. We will be back!
