We had a really solid experience at The Black Pelican. The black & bleu steak was delicious and cooked perfectly, and the house-made barbecue wings were our favorite… super crispy, sweet, and full of flavor. My son ordered the mahi with rice, which unfortunately came out a little dry and bland, but everything else hit the mark. The wood-fired pizza had great flavor, just a bit greasy with a slightly soggy crust. Dessert was excellent… the key lime pie and brownie sundae were both very satisfying. The restaurant was clean, had a great view of the dunes, and our server was friendly and attentive throughout. Overall, a great spot with a lot to like, and we’d definitely come back.
This place was a little more in the touristy side but the food was pretty good. The shrimp and grits was good but not mind blowing. Cocktails were tasty and pretty large. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Beautiful location and history
When we arrived at the restaurant, we were informed that the wait might take about 20 minutes, so we decided to browse the merchandise at their gift shop. I got a text within 5 minutes of our check-in, so that was a plus!
This restaurant has plenty of parking spots, friendly servers, and great food! The desserts were enticing, but we decided not to order as we wanted to have enough time to make it to our next destination.
Party of 5 dined inside on a Saturday evening around 7:30 pm. We had a short wait of about 15-20 minutes. We ordered the crab dip for an appetizer, it arrived i a reasoamout of time and served very hot. It had a cream cheese base and covered in melted cheddar on top, good with an adequate amount of meat. The Whanchese Fisherman's Risotto was delicious and large enough to be shared with a side salad. It included a generous amount of seafood and the Risotto provided a good texture to the mix. The Phillys Pecan Crusted Mahi was served hot and well done, maybe a little over done. The crust was crunchy but overall the fish was a little under seasoned. The fig sauce was a nice touch and very sweet. The vegetables were cooked to perfection, not over done and mushy. The sweet potatoes had a hint of the Khalua and that's about it. For desert we tried the Key Lime pie, the Creme Brule and the coconut custard, all of which were very good. Overall a nice dining experience. Our waitress did a great job and took good care of us and the historical significance of the location added to our experience. Lots of menu options to choose from so you should be able to find something that you will enjoy.
Good food and good service. He got the Carolina Combo. I tasted the hubby’s BBQ pulled pork on his plate, and found it very vinegary. But hubby was happy with it. He loved the fried clams, salsa corn and jalapeño bread too. I got the Greek salad. It was very good but I saw the neighboring tables’ caprezze salad and it looked better yet. Hubby got the Apple/pecan crisp with ice cream and loved it.
