Food was good. Beautifully plated. We were there for my mom’s 75th birthday and enjoyed outdoor seating. It’s a nice restaurant with great service. Quite perfect for a celebratory dinner.

Our party of 9 arrived after several larger parties, so we were asked to wait a few minutes to let the staff get caught up. Not a problem, especially when there is seating on the patio. After a short wait, we were seated outside with a beautiful view of the bay. Our meal was well paced. Our appetizers arrived as they were finished, so while not all at once, everything was hot. Entres arrived fairly quickly after the apps and were delicious. There was live music on the patio. Volume was nice, as it was not overbearing. We ended up going to Breakwater because our group was treated so rudely by the restaurant across the street. We were all glad to have patronized Breakwater instead.

The food was delicious and the drinks were good. We had clam chowder that had a lot of flavor and clams, coyote oysters, the fresh catch tuna as an appetizer and the tuna appetizer on menu. These were great. The crab mac and cheese was not good, it had very little seasoning but it had a good amount of crab.

The 46$ steak tasted like charcoal, I feel so bad my girlfriend ate it because she was nervous to say something. The crab dip was good but not worth 20$. I had a mixed drink which was mostly watered down rum, wine was good (2 glasses) and my crab cakes were more than half filling. The Mac and cheese with crab was pretty decent. I’d be embarrassed to serve a steak that bad. It was cooked medium, but they seared it entirely too long destroying all flavor. 100% not worth 184$. Go to tale of the whale. Much better food for less than half. When I mentioned about the steak (when she physically couldn’t eat any more of it) she said it was all eaten (less than half was) and oh well. Waitress was nice, but she did drop an appetizer on me and one other in our group ruining both of our shorts and his shirt. Nothing taken off the bill for that. As a tourist restaurant they don’t care. You go once, then you’re gone they don’t care or take pride in their food. View was pretty though.

We went for my birthday, and they seemed happy to accommodate. The soup was good. The stuffed flounder was bland and the stuffing was primarily bread for $42. It was served with veggies and rice which were also bland and not even warm. The garlic baked crab meat was not served with butter and the potatoes and veggies were cold for $34. When I said we were full, I was encouraged to get a Brownie ala mode to go, forgot which we were charged full price, and when I pointed out it was served without the sauces it was supposed to have come with and asked that it be removed from the bill, it was not removed and they apparently put a small amount of the toppings into the very small container. I have previously had my birthday supper at this restaurant with positive results. This experience on 7/24/26 was extremely disappointing and we will not return. The bill was $140 for 2 people for disappointing food and service. We had much better food and service at Pop's Raw Bar (Frisco, NC) and Dirty Dick's Crab House (Avon, NC).
