It's a straightforward coffee stop with a bakery case, the kind of place built around a morning routine rather than a destination meal. At a $ price point, it's set up for coffee and a pastry, not a full sit-down breakfast.

The hours mark it clearly as a morning-into-early-afternoon operation: open by 7 a.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. on Saturdays, and closed by 4 p.m. every day it's open. It's closed on Sundays entirely. If you're staying in Manteo or heading out to Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, the Elizabethan Gardens, or the downtown waterfront, it's a reasonable stop for coffee before the day's plans start — just don't count on it for an afternoon or evening visit.

Oh the smell of fresh roasted coffee wafting through the front door…. Heavenly. Very cool, independent coffee shop in the heart of historic, downtown Manteo. Located in an older building, the cafe has a relaxing, “stay a while” vibe. We were drawn to the large prayer wall filled individual prayers left by patrons. Soothing, compassionate feel. We are not religious and noticed the highly religious theme of this cafe, which is OK with us as it seems the owners/management walk the talk. They donate a percentage of their profits to charities. We ordered a mango-pineapple smoothie and two decaf mochas. Our granddaughter felt the smoothie’s pineapple taste overshadowed the mango, but enjoyed it. We liked that the mochas were smooth, had a rich coffee flavor and were not too sweet. The warmed cinnamon roll which we shared was perfectly done. Soft, gooey and full of cinnamon with minimal icing. We purchased a bag of coffee beans, which this company roasts themselves, for our son for Father’s Day. When Manteo, we will be back.

I am a big believer in supporting local coffee shops and this experience definitely was a highlight. This coffee business is as genuine as it gets. Their coffee is high quality and their knowledge of actual coffee drinks (not those commercialized versions of drinks) was superior. The shop was clean and staff were friendly. I got the seasonal iced coffee and my husband got a true macchiato. There is a prayer wall here too. I enjoyed reading and praying over the wall while enjoying my coffee.

the staff are nice (one of the baristas liked my hat and we had a pleasant a conversation about cats), and the coffee was delicious. the peppermint mocha tasted exactly like an evening mint, and they made it with oat milk for me, since i'm lactose-intolerant.

Charis Coffee Company was excellent! The atmosphere was something you don't see every where. A wall for of prayers. Take a pice of white paper, wow you're prayer and stick it on the wall. There was a section for answered prayers too. Such a sight to see. Their service was fantastic, very friendly! The coffee was excellent! There are seats for you to sit inside out of the heat. They also roast their own coffee, for sale in bulk.

This place had an amazing vibe. I loved prayer wall it was one of a kind. The staff was so kind and patient. The coffee was very rich and full of flavor.
