Buxton's treats-and-tours stop on NC-12, open daily from lunch through dinner
Fatty's Treats & Tours sits along NC-12 in Buxton, right in the run of Hatteras Island villages inside Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The name signals a dual identity — a casual stop for food and treats paired with tour offerings — and it holds a moderate $$ price range, with doors open seven days a week from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., covering lunch straight through dinner.
Buxton is best known as home to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, and a stop here fits easily into a day spent around the lighthouse grounds or nearby beaches before continuing south toward Hatteras village and the Ocracoke ferry. There's no website or reviews on file yet, so it's worth calling ahead — (252) 995-3288 — to confirm current hours and what's on offer before making a special trip.

OKAY FATTYS! 😍 Their fries may be little but those suckers are so good. I am a sucker for hand cut fries and they were chefs kiss! I really enjoyed the dive feel with the memes on the wall. Your staff was truly generous and so thankful for any tips provided. And your big fish is so cute!

It was not worth the money. The meat to bread ratio was ridiculous. It might look like there is alot of meat but it was flat pieces so no where near enough meat to call it an actual good sandwich, dry chicken on dry bread is not a good combo. Asked for extra mayo, none was added. The French fries were cold and hard the second I left with them. 4 people got food, not one person was happy with their meal. Over priced and underwhelming

The reason I am writing this review is not to make visitors worry. This is to the staff and owners. I started coming to Fatty’s 3 years ago and would’ve given a 10 star review for the food and atmosphere. In fact my family and I would go over there nearly everyday for lunch. This year we couldn’t wait to get our typical order which consisted of a shrimp po boy and fries on the side. Unfortunately we were disappointed this year and hope that this is just a phase the restaurant is going through. It was moderately busy but it took an hour for our take out order granted there was a large table for them to tend to. What threw me off is there were 2 employees moseying around while me and other customers waited patiently for our food. When it finally came the po boy looked thrown together (image is after I cleaned up the po boy) and the fries were in comparison of a kids fry at McDonald’s. (They ask if you want fries or chips) so fries. The kid said that’s the normal size, unless you buy fries as a side, which what is me paying extra for fries instead of chips mean? I don’t think I will give up on this place but will not be going back for the rest of this trip. Maybe next year.

Good food, huge portions, and great prices. If you're looking for a good burger and have an adventures side to trying new food combinations this is your place. The hot dogs were outstanding! The service and atmosphere was awesome and everyone working seems so down to earth. I would definitely recommend this place and foresee us returning in the future. They also serve Hersey's ice cream, so you can even get a sweet treat before you leave!
