Frisco Bay Coastal Grill is a full-service restaurant on NC-12 in Frisco, the Hatteras Island village that sits between Buxton and Hatteras village inside Cape Hatteras National Seashore. It's a moderately priced ($$) sit-down option in a stretch of the island where restaurant choices get noticeably sparser as NC-12 runs south toward the Hatteras village ferry docks.

Hours

The schedule changes through the week. Monday, Saturday, and Sunday, the kitchen opens early — 8 a.m. — covering breakfast into lunch and dinner. Tuesday through Friday it opens later, at 11:30 a.m., starting straight into lunch service. Every day of the week it runs through dinner, closing at 9 p.m., which keeps it available across most of the day for both early risers and dinner-hour diners.

Planning a Stop

Frisco sits close to the Buxton Woods area and the Frisco Campground, and it's one of the last villages before Hatteras village and the free NC ferry connection to Ocracoke Island. As with anywhere on this stretch of Hatteras Island, NC-12 can close during storms, particularly in the August-through-October hurricane risk window, so it's worth confirming a restaurant's hours before making a special trip during that period.

Awesome place. Great little date night place. The Pina Colada (~$17) is great, the Dark and Stormy (~$12) was a little strong but still good. We shared the fried pickle bombs, probably the best appetizer we could have picked. We also shared the fish and chips (mahi-mahi), which was also absolutely phenomenal. The fish was perfect, as someone who isn't big on "fishy" flavor. The fries were alright, and the coleslaw was good too if not a little sweet and runny (depends on how you like it). Service was solid as well. Nothing insane and out of the park, but no complaints either. Overall, great experience and will visit again next time.

Very good food and service! The Dill Pickle Bombs was delicious. I had the crab cake sandwich which was great and my fiancé had the fried fish sandwich which he said was amazing. Our server was also very kind and helpful in recommending a local draft beer! Definitely recommend!

Excellent food the poke tostadas and the pickle bomd apos are delicipus the fresh snapper and seafood pasta were to the point ever my son burger was perfect great job Gibbs was the best server

I wanted a special night out for my girl and I to enjoy before we left the following morning. I didnt know a restaurant would need a reservations but knowing what I know now, ( shoulda, coulda, woulda). The pasta wasn't drained all the way. The cheese on my burger was not melted all the way. I knew this place didnt get much good reviews but was willing to believe it could be better. I was wrong. We were shoved into a table right by the door. I would've enjoyed eating in at the room but wanted to try something different. There was a small bar towards the back but the seating area is not up to par as it should be at such a place. However, dont let me stop you, maybe they had an off night. If u find this review, you make sure to reserve a table at Breakwater waterfront restaurant down the road. Im sure it would be a lot more pleasing to the eye and palate than this rest stop restaurant.

We had high expectations going into this place based on the menu and other reviews, however our expectations must have been too high. We found the service to be extremely slow and our server not very attentive or organized. My husband's (expensive) drink was forgotten and we had to ask for it My drink was also forgotten. While mine and my daughter's meal was....ok, my husband's meal of Red Snapper was dry, overcooked and tough. For a beach restaurant serving locally caught seafood at such a high price, it would be great for the cook to pay attention on how to cook it. Fish should not be hard and crunchy. He is not a complainer and will usually eat it anyway but he couldn't get past the flavorless, overcooked fish here..
