Frisco Bay Coastal Grill is a full-service restaurant on NC-12 in Frisco, the Hatteras Island village that sits between Buxton and Hatteras village inside Cape Hatteras National Seashore. It's a moderately priced ($$) sit-down option in a stretch of the island where restaurant choices get noticeably sparser as NC-12 runs south toward the Hatteras village ferry docks.

Hours

The schedule changes through the week. Monday, Saturday, and Sunday, the kitchen opens early — 8 a.m. — covering breakfast into lunch and dinner. Tuesday through Friday it opens later, at 11:30 a.m., starting straight into lunch service. Every day of the week it runs through dinner, closing at 9 p.m., which keeps it available across most of the day for both early risers and dinner-hour diners.

Planning a Stop

Frisco sits close to the Buxton Woods area and the Frisco Campground, and it's one of the last villages before Hatteras village and the free NC ferry connection to Ocracoke Island. As with anywhere on this stretch of Hatteras Island, NC-12 can close during storms, particularly in the August-through-October hurricane risk window, so it's worth confirming a restaurant's hours before making a special trip during that period.

The food here is great! The price is good, and the staff are very friendly. I would recommend anyone in the area coming here for breakfast or dinner! I'm going to come back every year! Delicious!

We were in the Outer Banks for a week during off-season, and early on during our trip we stopped at this establishment. We loved it so much that we went 3 times while on our vacation. We had dinner twice, and breakfast once. The dinner highlights were the fresh, delicious pamlico sound shrimp. The shrimp were all cooked to perfection and delicious. The Chile Relleno was delicious as well either with the local Mahi, or with the blackened chicken. The cocktails were great, and the beer on tap selection was good with mostly local beer. Of note were the Margaritas and the Lost Colony beer Finally for breakfast we thoroughly enjoyed the Chilaquiles and Huevos Motul. Both dishes were packed with flavor and a great portion size. Overall the service was excellent as Martín and Carlos made us feel at home and made sure the food was always delicious and checked frequently to see if we needed drinks or anything else. We will be coming back whenever we get a chance to visit the Outer Banks again!

Great hidden gem. We saw on their Facebook post they were open for breakfast. Service was great and the place had a great atmosphere with a view of the Sound. My wife and I both had the Heuvos Rancheros. It was delicious. Eggs were topped with a verde sauce. Others in our group got pancakes or omelettes and everyone loved the food. We went back again for dinner. We made reservations and were seated immediately. I ordered the Enchiladas Verdi It was delicious but HOT. My with had the Black Drum special and loved it. We will be back but although it was delicious Update 3-26-26 As I said this restaurant is a true hidden gem. We visited for breakfast and the food is flavorful and delicious. The Huevos Motul is a fantastic breakfast item. Definitely a must visit in Frisco.

We absolutely loved this place- the service was excellent, and the restaurant offers a calm, relaxed vibe with beautiful water views. As for the food, the Oysters Rockefeller were hands down the best I’ve ever had and instantly became a favorite. The crab cake sandwich is another must-try; it was truly delicious. The clams, however, were just average and a bit basic compared to the rest of the dishes. Overall, aside from the clams, everything we tried was fantastic. I definitely recommend this spot for a quick brunch or lunch.

We stopped in for a beverage and an appetizer. So glad we did! Food was great! Carlos our server made the best Margaritas! The homemade guacamole was amazing! Atmosphere was perfect to have good conversation. Definitely going back! 5/5 Stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
