Early-morning coffee and baked goods on the road into downtown Manteo

About

Front Porch Cafe-Manteo sits on US-64 South, the road that carries most travelers across the Washington Baum Bridge and onto Roanoke Island before it reaches the historic waterfront district downtown. As a cafe and bakery, it runs on an early schedule — doors open at 6am every day of the week and stay open until 6pm, good timing for coffee on the way in before a day on the water or before visiting the historic sites at the island's north end.

That consistent daily schedule, with no separate weekday or weekend hours, makes it easy to plan around for a single-day visit to Roanoke Island or a longer stay nearby. The $$ price range and its cafe-and-bakery categorization point to a straightforward, moderately priced menu built around coffee and baked goods rather than a sit-down dining experience. For current offerings, it's worth calling ahead or checking the cafe's website directly, since details can shift with the season for small Outer Banks businesses.

Very nice place. The coffee I got was great and the atmosphere was also nice. Staff at manteo location on the day I went wasn't that friendly and didn't tell me when my drinks were done.
