About

Gather is a restaurant on S Seachase Dr in Nags Head, just off the Beach Road/Croatan Highway corridor that connects the northern Outer Banks beach towns. It opens at 8am seven days a week, early enough for breakfast and running clear through lunch and dinner.

  • Open daily from 8am
  • Monday closes at 8pm; Tuesday through Sunday stay open until 9pm
  • $$ — moderate pricing

Nags Head runs along the coast between Kill Devil Hills and the Jockey's Ridge dune field, and a spot with this wide a daily window comes in handy after an early morning on the beach or at the end of a day spent out at the dune. The shorter Monday close is worth noting if a start-of-week dinner is the plan — the rest of the week gives an extra hour. It's a good idea to call (252) 597-9937 or check gatherobx.com before heading over, especially later in the season (August through October) when Outer Banks hours can shift around storms.

For our table we had mixed reviews on food, some liked it and others found it bland. We all had something from the all day menu, it was pretty empty, one other group eating. I myself had the southwest surf bowl and I added the guac. I did like the meal, but I found the portion to be small and $1.50 extra for guac that’s the prepackaged ready-to-eat stuff you buy at the grocery store was not my thing. The curly fries were a hit but it is a $3 up charge to sub in over the tortilla chips as a side with a sandwich. Overall, not a bad spot I just don’t think it’s great pricing for quality or quantity of the food we received. I will say our waitress was great, very attentive and nice!

We ended up eating at Gather a few times while we were in Nags Head because it was just really easy with our whole family. We had a big group with kids and they were able to make us a reservation, which helped alot because trying to walk into places with a large family can be a mess. We went for breakfast, lunch and dinner during the week. The kids loved the pancakes, chicken tenders and fries, and the adults had stuff like the club sandwiches, fish tacos, salads and seafood dinners. Everybody found something they liked which is honestly rare with our family. It was really kid friendly without feeling like it was only for kids. The staff was patient with the little ones, the atmosphere was relaxed, and being at Village Beach Club made it easy after spending the day at the pool or beach. We will defiantly be back next time we are in the Outer Banks.

We went for lunch on a Friday at noon after seeing the great reviews. Took a while to find it as it's part of the club but no signs saying "Gather". Finally found the entrance but no service folks around. No customers but the bartender was there so we ordered a drink and asked how to be served on the deck. Looked like it was a confusing question to him. Finally decided to go to the deck and wait for service. Bad idea. Very hot and only one table had an umbrella and it was taken. We waited as long as we could until we went back inside and found someone. He said he would get an umbrella and take our order. Now it's been about an hour and he finally shows up with an umbrella he never opened before. Helped him with the umbrella with no base and too thin of a pole to lock into place, so we had to hold it. Very windy and dangerous so I put a pocket knife along side of the pole from underneath to cinch it when the wind tried to pull it out Massive liability but we made it work. Ordered and got our food after another 30 minutes and the apology for slow service was that it was the owners daughters birthday and they were all getting everything ready for her party. Didn't need to hear that but all good until the "5 star" food showed up. Really really disappointing. 3 stars for our waiters efforts and impossible odds. Beautiful day, though so all is good!

We got a chance to tour the facility and really loved the breakfast food here at Gather! Excited to try it again for dinner.
