Waterside dining at the south end of Hatteras Island, near the free Ocracoke ferry dock
Hatteras Sol Waterside Grill sits on NC-12 in Hatteras village, the southernmost of the strung-out communities on Hatteras Island and the departure point for the free ferry to Ocracoke. The name points to its waterside setting, a natural stop after a day on a charter boat, in from the beach at one of the village ORV ramps, or waiting on the ferry line.
Hatteras village has long been a working harbor as much as a beach stop, with a charter fleet that has fished these waters for generations, and dinner here fits into that rhythm rather than a resort-strip scene. As with anything on this end of the island, plans should stay flexible: NC-12 closes during storms with some regularity, and hurricane season, June through November, is worth keeping in mind if you are booking a stay in Hatteras village.

This place is an absolute gem! From the amazing views and stunning sunset to the wonderful live music and delicious food, every single moment was pure magic. The entire staff was so kind and welcoming, and our waiter went above and beyond to make the night special. Thank you!

This place is spot on! Views, atmosphere which is lovely without being stuffy, outdoor music, fantastic drinks. And of course the food! Strongly advise the dips- both ricotta and she crab dip. The fried fish- tonight a sea bass- a must. We left happy & full. Thank you for a fun and memorable experience.

One of the best restaurants on the island. It's expensive but man is it good. My swordfish was amazing. Perfectly prepared. No issues at all. The clam chowder was great too. Great service. Had a bit of a wait but it was well worth it. Hot blue crab dip was really good too. It was all fantastic.
