Kiki's Craft Creamery sits along NC-12 in Rodanthe, the first of the three grouped villages — Rodanthe, Waves, and Salvo — you reach after crossing the Marc Basnight Bridge onto Hatteras Island. It's a small storefront ice cream stop, the kind of local business that adds character to this narrow, exposed stretch of Cape Hatteras National Seashore between beach access points and rental cottages.

Small, seasonal food businesses on this end of the island don't always keep fixed year-round hours, and NC-12 itself closes for storms with some regularity — both good reasons to call ahead at (252) 420-3003 or check kikiscreamery.com before a special trip, particularly outside the Memorial Day-to-Labor Day stretch. For anyone staying in Rodanthe, Waves, or Salvo, it's a simple stop for something sweet without driving further down the island to Avon or Buxton.

Went there twice on vacation. Word is only homemade ice cream on the island. Super delicious and not an overwhelming amount of flavors. Kiki and staff were super friendly.

We found this ice cream truck on vacation and, honestly, it quickly became one of our favorite parts of the trip! 🍦❤️ We stopped by multiple times throughout the week because the ice cream was SO good, but the people behind the truck made it even more special. Our 4-year-old daughter immediately connected with the Kiki’s dad on our very first visit. He was so sweet to her that he ended up giving her a T-shirt, and from that moment on, we were basically family. 😂 She looked forward to seeing “Mr. David” every time we went back. The only problem? We spent the entire vacation calling him Mr. David… only to find out later that his name is not David. 😂😂 So, Mr. Stephen (we think), we sincerely apologize for confidently calling you the wrong name all week! Between the amazing ice cream, the kindness, and the sweet memories we made, this place was an absolute highlight of our vacation. We’ll definitely be back next year! 🍦☀️❤️ 5 stars doesn’t feel like enough!
