Had lunch for 3 here. Smaller selection of beers and drinks, but not bad. Overall atmosphere was divey and homey, but nice. Definitely a historic place with a lot of older regulars and tons of merch for sale. Our server, Jamie was great, with food recs and fast attentive service. Unfortunately our food wasn't that good. We started with the bang bang shrimp, which was the best item we had. Super light fry on the shrimp, delicious sauce, and perfectly cooked. Unfortunately the entrees weren't all that. The fried combo with fried flounder and oysters wasn't super flavorful (We added hot sauce, and s&p), and several of our fried oysters had chunks of shells. The flounder strip with our combo was cleaned properly, but our fried flounder sandwich had a bunch of bones still left in it. For sides: The onion rings were pretty greasy, the green beans just okay after s&p, and mashed potatoes were watery while also still having undercooked chunks. Cornbread was great though! Overall the food experience was lackluster, aside from the bang bang shrimp app which was great.
Delicious food and wonderful service! We had the fried shrimp/fish platter and it was SO good! Well seasoned and juicy. I also had a cup of the clam chowder which was good. We split a piece of the peanut butter pie and it was the best dessert I had all weekend! Our server was funny and helpful!
Not overpriced or pretentious, authentic obx seafood. I got the she crab soup and the tuna steak sandwich and I was dancing in my seat with every bite it's was just so phenomenal. Best tuna steak I've had in a long time... Juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The soup was amazing, rich and thick with lots of crab and a heavenly flavor profile. Absolutely would highly recommend both. And the fries are crispy and really good too. 10/10 will go back next time I'm in the area
Atmosphere is casual, staff is nice, service is very quick, clean bathrooms. Got the fried flounder and fried shrimp sandwich plus some clam chowder. The chowder was just broth based and tasted like soup, nothing special, $6!. The fried shrimp and flounder were not crunchy at all bunch soft and mushy, there was zero flavor, and the cold slaw was also bland and watery. Unsure how the reviews are so high. Will not return.
Ordered the a cup of chowder and crab cake sandwich. Chowder was ok. Could have used more seasoning but the crackers helped. The crabcake was really fresh but also could have used a little more seasoning. The waitress was a drop and run type.
