Shaka's Beach Bar & Grill sits along S Croatan Hwy in Nags Head, right on the Beach Road/Croatan Highway corridor that runs through the northern Outer Banks beach towns. The name fits the vibe — this is a casual, laid-back bar and grill built for beach days that roll into beach nights, the kind of place to walk in from the sand, grab a stool, and order a cold drink and something off the grill without bothering to change out of flip-flops.

The restaurant opens daily at 11 a.m. for lunch and dinner. Most nights the kitchen and bar wrap up at 9 p.m., but Friday and Saturday hours push later, to 10 p.m., making it a solid pick for an evening stop heading into the weekend. As a $$ bar and grill, it sits in the casual, moderately priced range of Nags Head dining rather than the special-occasion end.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Shaka’s Beach Bar was one of our favorite meals in the OBX! The atmosphere was outstanding! It was relaxed, fun, and exactly the beach vibe you hope for on vacation. I had the shrimp tacos, which were fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the sushi stack and couldn’t stop talking about how good it was. The food was excellent, the service was friendly, and the overall experience was fantastic. If you’re looking for great food and a fun beach atmosphere, Shaka’s is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in the Outer Banks!

What a great addition to the choices of restaurants in OBX! We had tuna bites to start -so delicious! The margarita was awesome as well! Vada was our server and she, too was awesome-attentive, pleasant & personable. I had the Seafood Trifecta-a bit too much butter sauce but still delicious. The fish &chips were crust and tasty. We highly recommend!

We had a table of six and enjoyed our meal. We were seated quickly even though the restaurant was close to capacity. I ordered the fish and chips and my wife had the carribean short rib plate. The fish was a large piece and fried well. My wife's plate had a number of things she enjoys including a sweet teriyaki sauce over jasmine rice with black beans and fried plantains and jalepenos. We would definitely go again.

This will be on our "Must eat here" list for every vacation to the OBX! Great selection on the menu, everything we had was perfectly cooked, our waitress was awesome (Shelby)! An excellent experience all around! Way to go Shaka's!!

We had a great experience at Shaka’s in the Outer Banks. The atmosphere is fun and laid-back, lively without feeling overwhelming. I ordered the Huli Huli chicken and my wife had the Caribbean short ribs, and both were absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. The flavors were bold without being overpowering and the portions were very satisfying, you can tell the kitchen really cares about execution. We started with the she-crab soup which was the only thing that didn’t quite stand out, just a little on the mild side, but still enjoyable. The service was friendly and attentive, drinks stayed cold, and the food came out hot and fresh. Overall a really solid meal and a place we’d gladly return to next time we’re in OBX.
