Great place in Hatteras! Tourist to the area and was looking for a good seafood place to try, the reviews did not lead me astray.
The food and service were great, although some of the serving sizes were a little small for the price. Prices were lower than other places so I think in comparison you get what you paid for. Perfect serving sizes, enough food without being too full with no leftovers. Went with a large party and everyone was satisfied. Took about 30 minutes for the food to arrive, which for our size party is standard. Looking at 20-30 per person without cocktails. Drinks are going rate for the area.
It was not too loud and could hold a conversation without struggling to hear others which was great in an era of places with the music way too loud. The women’s bathroom did not have any soap which was questionable for a food establishment.
Overall would return again if in the area.
I enjoyed the crab omelette at Sonny's so much, I had it two days in a row!!! Also the charming attentive service was a win! The environment is tidy, super clean, but uncluttered, with fun sport fish paintings on the walls. I highly recommend!!!
We enjoyed a breakfast one morning & dinner one evening. We enjoyed all the food & service. Enough for leftovers too. Crab. Cheese omlette delicious. Raspberry donut cheesecake the Best. Stuffed flounder & homemade coleslaw quite tasty. My husband enjoyed his scallops, coleslaw & onion rings. He liked his French toast, sausage & scrambled eggs. We will be back on our next visit.
Atmosphere and service is always good. We usually stop in for breakfast. They offer a good variety at a good price. Today I ordered eggs over medium, grits, and white toast. The food came out just above warm. My eggs were cooked hard on the outside, but the whites were not cooked all the way through. I couldn't even eat the edges they were so underdone. I broke the yolks and ate my toast with those. The toast was not warm enough to melt the butter I put on it. The grits had no flavor but the consistency was good. I had to add 2 packs of butter (again the food was not hot enough to melt room temperature butter) and salt to season. Eggs were also unseasoned. I realize that's what salt and pepper are at the table for but normally food is seasoned while it's cooked. It's just not the same. I could've sent it back and asked for it to be fixed, but I am not a fan of food returning to the kitchen once it's been brought out.
We stopped at Sonny’s Waterfront Restaurant for breakfast and had a really good experience. The service was excellent, friendly, attentive, and our food came out surprisingly quickly.
The prices were very reasonable. The food itself was a little above average. Everything was good and enjoyable, although nothing really stood out as exceptional.
Overall, the combination of excellent service, quick food and fair prices made for a very enjoyable breakfast. Definitely a solid spot to check out!
