Sorellas

Lunch only, seven days a week, right on Ocracoke village's main highway

About

Sorellas serves lunch seven days a week in Ocracoke village, open from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. along Irvin Garrish Highway. There's no evening service to plan around — this is a midday-only kitchen, with a moderate ($$) price range and takeout available for anyone headed out to the beach or back to a boat.

Finding it

Ocracoke village sits at the island's southwest end near Silver Lake Harbor, the only developed stretch of an island reachable solely by water — the free ferry from Hatteras village, the longer toll ferries from Cedar Island or Swan Quarter, or a private plane into the local airstrip. Irvin Garrish Highway is the village's main road, so Sorellas is easy to fold into a day that also takes in Springer's Point, the Ocracoke Lighthouse, or the walk around Silver Lake.

With a consistent daily window and no dinner hours, it's worth checking the clock before you plan a late lunch — the kitchen closes mid-afternoon.

The Calzones are MASSIVE. Honestly, they were kinda hard to eat because we got carry out, and they weren't cut. Also were no utensils. As we were eating it, All the filling slid to the bottom half, so the top half was mostly bread, and then the bottom half had too much filling. These would have been much better split into TWO pies instead of one massive one. Also, the house salad with grapes and tomatoes and onions and Italian dressing? That wasn't a very good salad, going by the flavor profile. Overall we enjoyed this meal.
