The Pony and The Boat sits on N Croatan Highway in Kitty Hawk, the northernmost of the three beach towns that make up this stretch of the Outer Banks. It's barrier-island living in its plainest form here — ocean a few blocks east, Currituck Sound a few blocks west, and the highway running straight through the middle carrying everyone between Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, and Nags Head.

The Pony and the Boat always hits the spot. We go every year on vacation and the food and service are always top notch. Can't recommend the poutine fries highly enough! They're super cheesey with bites of pork and rich gravy. Big selection of specialty cocktails and local beers. Absolutely need to call ahead for a dinner reservation, can't speak for lunchtime, but dinner is always packed.

A great place to grab a bite to eat after hitting the beach in the Outer Banks. I had the fried chicken and it was out of this world, amazing! Very juicy chicken and amazing crisp to it. The side cornbread was fresh and great flavor. Good bar service and attentive staff overall. Stop in after a long beach day, you won’t be disappointed.

This was a new place my family tried this year. Everything we got was fantastic. We had the cornbread, poutine, and brussel sprouts as starters and we lived them all. The chicken pot pie, surf and turf and cheese ravioli with shrimp and crab was also great. The sauce for the ravioli was delicious. Finally, the bread pudding was amazing. Our servers was absolutely wonderful and so nice. She was awesome! We all decided this was somewhere we will definitely be coming back to on future trips.

This is our favorite place is the OBX! The menu isn't giant so you know everything on it is done the right way. It's so good that my son talks about it sporadically throughout the year! I'd highly recommend the cornbread. It's basically dessert, it's that good.

Food portions were small for $37. Service was not attentive. Forgot our side salad and appetizer. Coffee was old/warm, but they did offer to make a new carafe. Not coming back, not worth it.
