The Salty Rim is a must when in Corolla!
We had an outstanding experience at The Salty Rim. The food alone is worth the visit…everything we ordered was excellent. The tacos were fresh and packed with flavor, the Salty Dogs(a must try) were perfectly done, and the loaded fries were next level. You can tell there’s real attention to quality in the kitchen.
The atmosphere is just as impressive. It’s relaxed but vibrant, and the view of the Currituck Beach Lighthouse in the background makes it a uniquely Outer Banks spot. Definitely not just another beach bar…this place stands out.
What really made the experience, though, was the service. Our bartender, Holly, was exceptional…friendly, attentive, and incredibly sharp. She greeted us with a smile, took our full order without writing anything down, and didn’t miss a beat the entire time. Even with a busy crowd, she made us feel like we had her full attention. Everything came out exactly right, and she checked in just the right amount without ever being intrusive.
The most surprising part? It was only her second day on the job. You’d never know it. The level of service easily rivals (and honestly exceeds) what you’d expect at high-end restaurants.
We’ll absolutely be back—this place is doing it right.

Bloody Mary,normal mix nothing special quickly felt diluted.
Shrimp taco . Shrimp had good snap. The taco stuck to the paper and loaded with a sauce that wasnt very memorable but was fine.
Staff were friendly and efficient.
First of all, I understand how difficult it is to run a restaurant and with having family in the food service industry I am well aware of how you can’t make everyone happy, but this isn’t like that.
This is sort of a two part review. We loved the place, the location of view of the lighthouse and the food. Just wasn’t really impressed with service nor how things were handled after a few major mistakes were made.
Our party had an extra margarita dropped off at the table that was never ordered. And one of our members never received a drink ever for the entire meal.
After the drinks are dropped off, we figured when he returned we would let him know that we did not order two margaritas and one of our party members was missing a drink as well. But after our drinks were dropped off, we never saw our server for the entire rest of the time. Kitchen staff brought our food out. We finished our entire meals and never received the drink for one of our party members. At the end, we brought this to the attention of the staff at the upstairs cashier area as we attempted to cash out and they told us that once the bill was printed there was nothing they could do and that we would just have to pay what the bill says. So in the end we had to pay for a margarita that we didn’t order which was $12 and paid for a drink that one of our party members never even received and had nothing to drink for their entire meal. The staff members solution was that we could pick up the drink at the bar on the downstairs as we leave, like we need it then???
Not impressed. i’ve never really experienced that ever at a restaurant before in all my years.
Great food and location. We loved the nachos and margaritas. My husband enjoyed being able to take drinks to-go if you order food! We went multiple times during our stay in OBX. Less busy on weekdays and got tons more meat on nachos than during weekend.
We had a fantastic experience at The Salty Rim! The atmosphere was fun, welcoming, and exactly what you're looking for after a day at the beach. A huge shout out to the bartenders, Hannah and Logan. They were incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. Their service was outstanding, and they made some excellent drinks with a smile.
The shrimp tacos were absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. They were definitely the highlight of the meal, and we'll be ordering them again the next time we're in Corolla.
If you're looking for great food, outstanding bartenders, and a relaxed coastal vibe, The Salty Rim is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommend! 🌮🍹🌴
