The Shiny Tiny Walk Up sits along NC-12 in Rodanthe, one of the northernmost villages on Hatteras Island. True to its name, it's a walk-up counter setup rather than a sit-down restaurant — order at the window and take your food to go or to a nearby spot to eat. That's a familiar format up and down this stretch of the island, where small, seasonal food stands fill in the gaps between the strung-out villages of Rodanthe, Waves, and Salvo. At a $$ price point, expect straightforward, quick-service fare rather than an extensive menu. As with many small operations on this exposed part of the seashore, hours can shift with the season and with storms — NC-12 closures are a normal part of life here — so it's worth calling ahead before making a special trip.

UPDATED to include today’s crabcake burger & potato salad. PERFECTION! I almost packed my color for lunch today & remembered this cute little food truck. Best decision! (And their t-shirts SPARKLE!) Grilled rockfish sandwich was delicious & the lady (owner?) working was kind & efficient. Will definitely return when in the area. It was the perfect post-beach lunch!

We knew we wanted to stop here before we even got to town. The Spicy Tuna was what brought us in initially on interest! Between that, my Cutch Burger and the pasta salad, we are sold! Delicious after a long day of traveling and a cooler full of a variety of ice cold Jarritos was a cherry on top!

We got there a little later in the day. About 6:00 pm. She was so nice and the food was amazing! I had a garden salad with bacon wrapped scallops. I just took them off and ate them individually and shared with others in my party.

1000/10 ATE HERE TWICE IN 1 DAY!! This was the most flavorful tuna and quinoa salad ever! For lunch we ordered "The Cutch" that has the Spicy Tuna with a side of quinoa salad -AMAZING btw- and for dinner we had the Quinoa Salad with Spicy Tuna on top and my husband got it with Regular Tuna. I'm so mad we didn't find it sooner to try more off the menu BUT WE WILL BE BACK on our next trip to OBX.

This place is such a gem! Perfectly cooked Tuna, Fresh Mahi, great BLTs and flavors that keep you interested and mouth happy! The owner is wonderful! She is friendly, committed and super concentrated on her cooking! What a great idea and great spot for the Tiny Shiny! I think we ate here at least 4 times during our stay in OBX! This will not disappoint. Make the trip. It's well worth it! Would love to know the homemade dressing on the quinoa salad! The flavor was phenomenal.
