Tortugas Lie is a brewery and bar on Beach Road in Nags Head — the oceanfront road officially known as S Virginia Dare Trail, running close to the sand through the northern Outer Banks beach towns. It's built around beer and bar food rather than a formal dinner menu, the sort of place to duck into after a day at the beach for a cold drink and something to eat before heading back out.
Sundays are the one day it's closed, worth building into weekend plans since it's easy to assume a Beach Road bar runs all seven days. The rest of the week it stays open from late morning through the evening, a reasonable stop coming straight off the beach or after dinner somewhere else nearby. Amazing place with such a great vibe and super chill atmosphere. I absolutely love the decorations and the whole interior design — it feels creative, cozy, and full of character. You can really tell this is a place where everyone can find something for themselves and leave a little piece of their personality behind. The food was fantastic, the service was excellent, and overall it was just a wonderful experience. Definitely recommend!

We had an amazing experience! I ordered the burger, and my husband had the tuna sandwich—both were absolutely delicious. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and you could tell a lot of care went into every dish. We sat at the bar, and the staff was fantastic. They were so friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which made the experience even better. This place is definitely worth the wait! We’ll absolutely be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal.

It’s worthy the hype and many reviews I guess. Are there better dining experiences in OBX? Yes. Carb dip has few crumbs of crab on top Of spinach dip. What stands out is their vibe may be.

one of our favorite places to eat on the OBX. great food that is always fresh. staff is amazing. nights with live music are great.

We went there for dinner after a recommendation from one of my coworkers and the food was delicious! I had the fish tacos and they were excellent as well as the crab artichoke dip! Great drinks as well! The place gets busy and we had to wait a while, but luckily they have a cute little bar in the back with live music so it made the wait more bearable. Will definitely be back!
