Waves Coffee & Candies sits on NC-12 in Rodanthe, in the same stretch of road that runs on through Waves and Salvo before continuing south toward Avon, Buxton, and Hatteras village. It's a cafe-and-bakery stop in the truest sense — coffee, baked goods, and a candy case — priced as a quick, inexpensive grab rather than a sit-down meal.
Because NC-12 is the only road tying the Hatteras Island villages together, this is a straightforward stop coming down from the Basnight Bridge or heading toward Hatteras village and the ferry to Ocracoke. Call ahead at (252) 987-2320 if a stop needs to line up with those shorter weekend hours, especially outside peak season.

Super yummy coffee shop with fresh pastries, candy, and some jewelry and other items for sale! Large menu, friendly staff. Would definitely recommend and would come back to try more! Plenty of seating indoor and outdoor, some seats even facing the sound. Free WiFi too!

Loved this place! We enjoyed the specialty coffees every morning we were on vacation. I brought my dog in, and they remembered his name every day. Excellent pup cups!

Excellent coffee shop. They also have candies, pastries and souvenirs. We have been there multiple times over the years and twice this week. The coffee is excellent and the flavors are unique. I had a Banana Bread Latte today that was delicious. The staff are very nice as well!

Great coffee shop with lots of bakery items and breakfast sandwiches. The Verry Berry Struedel was delicious 😋 We stopped again this morning and ordered sausage, egg, and cheese on everything bagels. Delicious! Lots of souvenir items and local made goods to look at while you wait for your order... plus a nice selection of chocolates/fudge and other candy.

Cute gem with great coffee and next level self-service bar to modify until your cup is perfect. They also sell cute merchandise including things made by local artists and have that gift for anyone that didn't make the trip.
