this place has gone so far downhill.
Firstly, hey took the best sandwich off the menu. Three people who WERENT me or in my party asked for it while we were inside. They now only offer turkey on the kid’s menu sandwich, everything else cold is pork or chicken.
Secondly, the expanded shop that includes the non-food items and merchandise reeks of marijuana. The interior smells so strongly I left after a few minutes.
I got a Caesar salad wrap with chicken, which they charged extra for the chicken and the wrap (makes sense). it ended up being $13 for my wrap which is understandable if it weren’t for the fact that they didn’t put a drop of dressing on it. $13 for a CAESAR salad wrap and I got chicken, cheese, croutons, and lettuce in a tortilla. All dry. This isn't a Caesar wrap, that would have Caesar dressing. I simply don’t understand how you can forget the namesake of the salad.

I can’t say enough about how amazing Waves Deli is. This place is truly magical and special … a must visit place when in OBX! The staff are always so friendly and helpful even when it gets busy. I’ve been to Waves Deli so many times and tried many different menu items and never had a bad experience. Whenever I visit the area with friends going to Waves Deli is on the top of the list of things to do. They always offer my dog a piece of bacon whenever we visit which is so kind to offer! If you haven’t been before prepare to have your world changed for the better !!!
My husband and I ordered the chicken sandwich with feta, cucumbers, and lettuce, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst sandwiches we’ve had in our 24 years of visiting Hatteras.
While the sandwich itself was large, it was very difficult to eat. The chicken breast was sliced and extremely dry, the bread was hard and dry, there was no mayonnaise or anything to add moisture, and the feta came as a solid block instead of crumbled. The only thing that made some bites manageable were the four tiny cucumber slices because they added a little moisture.
At nearly $30, this was very disappointing. We visited last year and had an okay experience, but this visit was a huge letdown and, at this point, we likely won’t be back.
One more thing travelers should know: there is no public bathroom available, which was another downside for us while passing through.
Some of the best sandwiches not only on the outerbanks but in NC. The salmon bagel is something out of New York. Also tried the turkey sandwich and although sounds plain it was delicious. The steak sandwich/ sub was very large but not our favorite quality or flavor wise, could easily share it though. We will def be back to try more.
A MUST stop in outer banks. You can't go wrong with your order. Try the fries with white sauce 🤌 nice and thick home fries with a delicious yum yum sauce tasting white sauce. Huge sandwich! Worth the price. You can tell the chef takes time with creating each item. Each sandwich has the right spread it needs. This will definitely be a regular spot from now on!
