Wild Horse Inn

Corolla bar and bite spot named for the wild mustangs that roam the beaches just north of town

About

Wild Horse Inn sits on Ocean Trail in Corolla, a bar-and-restaurant spot whose name nods to the area's best-known residents — the wild Spanish mustangs that roam the beaches at the north end of town, protected and managed by the Corolla Wild Horse Fund. Google categorizes it under Brewery & Bar, pointing to a laid-back, drinks-forward menu suited to unwinding after a day at the beach.

Corolla marks the last stretch of paved road on this part of the Outer Banks — NC-12 simply stops north of town, past which Carova and the other beach communities are reachable only by driving the open sand in a 4x4. Wild Horse Inn is in the paved, easily-drivable part of Corolla, so no special vehicle is needed to get there. It sits within range of the village's historic district — the Currituck Beach Lighthouse and the Whalehead Club — and the rest of Corolla's shops and restaurants along Ocean Trail.

Great hidden gem in Corolla! Has amazing outside area, with corn hole and tvs. Food is good, didnt realize you had to order from the window outside, but once we did it was smooth sailing! Games inside for the kids or adults to play while waiting, we will definitely be back

The lounge and cafe are great. We thoroughly enjoyed the outside bar. They offer so many options to sit outside and have some yard games. Staff is so friendly there and this place is so accommodating to their guests. Their sandwich’s, snacks and other food was delicious. Great place for groups kids or just somewhere to sit outside and drink. They had a corn hole tournament as well going on and met the owners who are so friendly.

Great place to stay. Our room was very clean and felt homey and comfortable. Ate at the restaurant, which was excellent and the coffee trailer had the best cappuccino I ever had. Staff was wonderful: friendly and knowledgeable. Just a happy place to stay.

My husband and I have leased houses, rented rooms and stayed in hotels while visiting OBX with very few complaints from us.. The WILD HORSE INN has far exceeded anywhere we have stayed. It's close to the beach we prefer, the room is cleaner than clean and it's quiet. There is a bar and café adjacent to the end that we heard no noise from in our room. I'm one of those needy guest that always wants or needs something. The staff continually met those wants and needs without signs of displeasure or annoyance. We will definitely be back!

We rented out the entire inn for our wedding weekend and also had WHI host a welcome event and our rehearsal dinner for all of our friends and family. It was an exceptional time! Such a lovely space outback, a fun atmosphere, a cozy place to stay and be, and amazing owners and staff that go out of their way to make you feel welcome and make sure you enjoy your stay. Couldn’t recommend them enough!
