Carova Beach Park & Boat Ramp

Carova Beach Park & Boat Ramp is a Currituck County-run soundside access point tucked into the heart of Carova, the stretch of Outer Banks beach community that starts where the pavement ends. There's no numbered highway out here — Ocean Pearl Rd sits well north of Corolla's Currituck Beach Lighthouse and Whalehead Club, reachable only by driving a 4x4 vehicle up the open beach.

Getting There

This park sits in the true 4x4-only zone, so a vehicle with real ground clearance and low tire pressure for sand is non-negotiable — check tide and sand conditions before heading up, and budget extra time since the "road" is the beach itself. Along the way, keep an eye out for the wild Spanish mustangs the Corolla Wild Horse Fund manages throughout this stretch; they roam freely and have the right of way.
