Currituck Beach

Currituck Beach runs along the oceanfront in Corolla, a wide stretch of sand near the town's historic district, where the Currituck Beach Lighthouse and the Whalehead Club sit just inland. Unlike the busier core beaches to the south, this stretch keeps a quieter, small-town feel even in peak summer, with plenty of room to spread out a blanket without wandering far to find open sand.

Access is straightforward from the paved streets and public parking that serve Corolla's historic district and surrounding neighborhoods — no 4x4 required this far south of the village's north end, where the road turns to sand. As with any Outer Banks beach, check surf and rip current conditions before swimming, particularly during hurricane season (June through November, with the higher-risk stretch from August into October).
