The gift shop at the foot of Corolla's 1875 lighthouse, steps from the Whalehead Club and Heritage Park
The museum shop sits at the base of the Currituck Beach Lighthouse, right in the middle of Corolla's historic district alongside the Whalehead Club and the grounds of Currituck Heritage Park. It's the natural last stop after climbing the lighthouse itself — the brick tower dates to 1875 and is still an active aid to navigation, one of only a handful on the Outer Banks that visitors can actually climb to the top of. After a few hundred steps, the shop at the bottom is where most people end up, browsing lighthouse-themed gifts, prints, and local history titles tied to the tower and the surrounding heritage park.
The shop keeps the same hours every day of the week, 9am to 5pm, so there's no need to plan around a particular weekday. Because it sits inside the historic district complex, it pairs naturally with a stop at the Whalehead Club's restored 1920s mansion next door or a walk through the heritage park grounds along the sound. A nice gift shop for the lighthouse. It had a good bit of variety among the items it sold. There were some typical tourist items, as well as some nicer decorations. The store is pretty cramped, so it may be difficult to navigate if there are a few people inside at the same time.

Very cool place. The gift shop has plenty of interesting souvenirs, some snacks and merchandise, including from local artists. It is a bit snug inside, since it used to be one of the keeper’s residences, so traffic inside the store is a little limited, so proceed with caution around some merchandise. Do recommend for a visit, we have been twice!

4/26/25 - such a cute shop!! So much to shop and see. The lighthouse is also very nice. Definitely recommend stopping by.

Its a fantastic lighthouse and museum. 10 bucks per person to get to the top. Tells all the history, great views of the town. Its a bit of a hike to the top, and the stairs are see through, so its a little scary if you don’t like heights. Also the top observation deck is scary as well. But thats just for lightweights like me.

Gift shop located in the smaller keepers quarters of Currituck Beach Lighthouse. There is truly something for everyone on this cozy two-story building. Friendly staff will help you find the perfect gift or souvenir. Great T-shirt selection. Front porch offers bench seating in the shade with a view of the lighthouse & main keepers quarters, which is not open to the public.
