Duck's soundfront boardwalk and open lawn, a free stop for sunset views over Currituck Sound
Duck Town Park sits right on Currituck Sound, and the boardwalk running along its shoreline is the reason most people find it in the first place. Pull off Duck Road, park, and you're a two-minute walk from open water views facing west across the sound toward sunset — one of the better sunset spots in town precisely because Duck itself is soundside rather than oceanfront.
The park is a green, tree-lined stretch of lawn with the boardwalk threading along the water's edge and a paved path connecting straight into the heart of Duck's walkable shopping and dining district. It's an easy stop to break up a day of browsing the boutiques nearby, and the open grass gives kids room to run that the shops themselves don't.
There's no cost to walk the boardwalk or use the park, making it a natural add-on to a day already centered on Duck's village. The park's lawn and stage also see concerts and community events through the season — check the Town of Duck's site for what's scheduled during your visit.

Had a great time walking around! If I lived in the area I would definitely be taking lots walks there. Saw some people fishing and stopping at the shops along the way. We stopped by the amphitheater and it looked really nice! Also stopped by the chapel which was really pretty.

Small park but absolutely beautiful with a trail leading to a stage, playground for kids and of course the boardwalk. The boardwalk offers not only a beautiful view of the ocean but has many gift shops and a few restaurants and bars. Just a warning when your on the boardwalk, it will be sunny for the most part, but if the wind starts really blowing and the sky gets dark, make sure you get in your car and get away temporary. When it rains, it definitely pours. Lol

The Duck Town Park and Boardwalk was one of the highlights of our Outer Banks trip. The boardwalk stretches nearly a mile right along the Currituck Sound, weaving past maritime forest, marsh, and open water, with plenty of lookout spots along the way. It’s stroller-friendly and easy to walk at a relaxed pace, which was perfect with our little one. The park itself is lovely too — shady trails, a great playground, picnic shelters, and lots of open green space. We loved that the boardwalk connects right to the village shops and restaurants, so you can stroll, browse, and grab a bite all in one outing. And the sunset over the sound is absolutely worth sticking around for. A peaceful, family-friendly spot we’d happily visit again. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed a scenic view strolling the Duck Boardwalk and spotted some ducks too lol! 🦆 Plus, there are cute shops and Duck Donuts right at the end to enjoy! 🍩🛍️
