About

Escape Hatteras opened as Hatteras Island's first escape room, set right on NC-12 in the village of Frisco. It's a welcome change of pace for this stretch of the seashore — an indoor, team-based puzzle experience that doesn't care about tide, wind, or whether NC-12 is even passable that day.

What to Expect

Small groups work together inside a themed room, following clues and solving puzzles toward a story-driven goal, with staff keeping an eye on progress and offering hints along the way. The rooms lean on local material rather than generic escape-room dressing — expect themes drawn from lighthouse-keeper history and Outer Banks lore. Sessions are generally sized for small teams, though some rooms are built to handle larger groups, which makes this a solid option for families or a group of friends splitting up beach days.

Had the best time! We did the finders keepers escape room. Has a 1 in 8 chance of beating it and we did it. Everything was so well thought out. Definitely bring your family here!

This is our second trip enjoying Escape Hatteras rooms and we were blown away this year by Island Spies and Haunted Hatteras! Ken does such a great job at creating fun and unique puzzles, my husband and I are avid escapers and we were tickled by these rooms. A must-do if you're visiting!

Escape Hatteras Is one of our go-to's for our annual family trip to the outer Banks. We are escape room fans and been to too many rooms to count and escape Hatteras is one of our favorites We enjoy coming each year to see what new room has been designed. The rooms are well thought out and well tested and they have difficulty levels for everything from the first timer to the experienced escape room aficionado. We were lucky enough to be first customers to try out the new room, Haunted Hatteras, and once again a great job and a great experience. We always look forward to our trips and we definitely look forward to next year and visiting again!

Very well laid out and great backstory but WAY too difficult for newbies too many puzzles for one hour. Would only recommend for highly experienced players. If you take more than five minutes ask for a clue if you still can't figure it out with the clue you're done.

What a fun family experience! We did Island Spies, which was challenging, but in all the right ways. We were given hints as needed and almost escaped. Will definitely come back and check the new location in the winter time:)
