First Flight Adventure Park

Zipline and treetop rope courses woven through Nags Head's maritime forest, off Croatan Highway

(507)
Nags Head, NC

About

First Flight Adventure Park sits back from the Croatan Highway in Nags Head, threading zipline runs and rope-and-cable courses through the maritime forest that still covers much of this stretch of the barrier island. It's a break from the beach in the best way — shaded, physical, and a little different from another afternoon on the sand.

What to expect

The park is built around aerial courses strung between the trees, mixing zipline sections with rope bridges, cargo nets, and other obstacle-style elements at height. Courses are typically organized by difficulty and reach, so groups with a range of comfort levels and ages can usually find something that fits — worth calling ahead or checking the website for specifics on age and height requirements before you go, since those details aren't listed here.

Planning your visit

  • Closed Sundays; open the rest of the week with hours that shift by day, including extended evening availability midweek on Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Located on S Croatan Hwy (the Bypass), making it an easy stop between Nags Head and Kill Devil Hills.
  • Call ahead for group bookings, waiver requirements, or weather-related schedule changes — outdoor aerial courses are typically weather-dependent.

If you're looking to add something active to a beach week that doesn't involve sand or salt water, this is one of the few spots in the area built specifically for it.

Their hours make it tough to ever do this course! You will be dying of heat exhaustion,

It's always a fun time at FFAP! This was our family's 3rd time overall and our 6 year old's 1st time. 8 different courses staggered in difficulty so my boys (15 & 12) could do them all and my daughter (6) could do the first 3 courses. It has become a yearly stop for us. Friendly staff and safe environment. Thanks!

We had so much fun! The guides were very informative and safety conscious! We spent two hours on the course and had a blast. My 16-year-old son finished the entire course. My husband and I made it through 3 levels.
