About

Harvey Soundside Park is a small public access point on the sound side of Nags Head, along S Croatan Hwy toward the south end of town. Nags Head sits on a narrow barrier island with the Atlantic Ocean on one side and Roanoke Sound on the other, and this is one of the town's access points to the calmer side of that equation — flat water, no surf, and long views out across the sound instead of the open ocean most visitors come here for.

A reasonable spot for crabbing or light sound fishing
Faces west, which makes it a solid pick for watching the sun go down over the water

It's a modest, low-key site rather than a full-scale park — think a place to park and get down to the water, not a destination with amenities to plan a day around. Staying anywhere along the Beach Road or Croatan Highway corridor in Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, or Kitty Hawk and want a quick change of scenery from the oceanfront? This is a straightforward way to reach the sound without leaving town.

Great place to watch the sunset! And saw nesting Osprey, crabs and jumping fish! Plenty of parking and a great place to get some steps in.

Nice restrooms they’re nice and clean. Wonderful place to watch the sunset plenty of handicap parking. It’s a covered picnic area.

Harvey's Soundside Park is a nice little area to visit. The views/surroundings are picturesque. This is a quaint and quiet area. The dock has an area to sit down and relax. You have Miller's Restaurant nearby as well as some water sports you can do. This is also close to some shopping. There is no sand area to walk into the water, but the area is good for a picnic.

Very nice gazebo for shelter from the sun and probably a good place to watch the sunset. For kayaking and watersports, there's a nice, but small, sand launch that's free of rocks. Parking is limited and appears to be heavily used by customers of the nearby restaurant. If no one is parked in the "no parking" zone, a vehicle can be backed very close to the launch for unloading of watercraft.

We stopped by to check out the restaurant/bar and launch our paddle boards in the sound. The staff was very friendly, food came out fast and hot. My wife said the tuna tacos were excellent! I had the oyster poboy tacos, which were very good. I would have liked 1 or 2 more oysters on each taco, but for 8 bucks they were fine. Planning on returning tonight for the sunset!
