A quiet soundside gazebo in Kill Devil Hills, away from the beach crowds
Hayman Blvd Gazebo sits on Bay Drive in Kill Devil Hills, the soundside street that runs along the Roanoke Sound side of town rather than the ocean side. It's registered with Google as a public park, and that's really the right way to think of it: a small, unfussy patch of green with a covered gazebo, the kind of spot locals drive past a hundred times before actually stopping.
There's no restaurant, no gift shop, no admission — just a bench-friendly structure to sit under, out of the sun or a passing shower, with the sound spreading out to the west. Kill Devil Hills is barely a half-mile wide at points, so soundside parks like this one are a short hop from Beach Road and the Atlantic side, without the parking hassle or crowds of the main beach accesses.
This isn't a big-name attraction with a visitor center or posted hours — it hasn't picked up reviews on Google yet, and there's no listed phone number or website, which tracks for a small municipal green space rather than a business. If you're staying nearby and want a five-minute break from the sand, or a spot to watch the sound go still in the evening, it's worth a stop. Don't expect much beyond the gazebo itself and the view.

I visited Kill Devil Hills and wanted to see a sunset. I was directed to the Gazebo and after searching a bit, found parking across the street. It was worth the effort. I saw families, teenagers and even children riding bikes. I enjoyed it a lot.
