We really enjoyed our ride! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, we saw lots of dolphins early into the ride, and loved the stunning views. A great excursion for families or adults!

Sound-side dolphin tours based in Nags Head, spotting resident pods most of the year
Nags Head Dolphin Watch puts you on the water for one of the more reliable wildlife encounters on this stretch of the Outer Banks: a close-up look at the bottlenose dolphins that live in Roanoke Sound year-round. As a Nags Head-based tour operator, its trips run sound-side rather than out into open ocean, which keeps the ride calmer and puts the focus on the animals instead of deep-sea fishing.
The business is based on S. Virginia Dare Trail, right along the Beach Road corridor that runs through Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills, and Kitty Hawk — easy to reach from anywhere along the beach strip. Call or check the website directly for current trip times before you plan your visit around it.

First off, unbeatable experience. The marine biologist on board, Callyn Clark, was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Highly recommend this tour. We saw dolphins, a rainbow, and a gorgeous sunset. My only note would be to make the Venmo QR code larger and more visible, as well as utilizing other payment apps. I had to personally ask Callyn where I could tip.
