Nags Head Town Park

A quiet municipal green space in Nags Head, off the Beach Road strip and away from the crowds

About

Nags Head Town Park sits on Health Center Drive, tucked into the interior of town, off the main Beach Road and Croatan Highway corridor most visitors stick to. It's a municipal green space run by the Town of Nags Head, more community amenity than tourist draw, which is exactly why it's worth knowing about if you want a break from the ocean and the crowds for an hour. Google lists it simply as a park and point of interest, and it hasn't picked up any reviews yet, so this is genuinely under the radar rather than an established stop on the sightseeing circuit.

What you'll find is open, walkable green space: room to stretch out with a blanket, let kids or dogs run, or just sit somewhere that isn't sand for a change. The Health Center Drive address puts it on the interior, soundside end of town, giving it a calmer, more residential feel than the oceanfront corridor a few blocks east.

This isn't a must-see landmark on the order of Jockey's Ridge or the Wright Brothers National Memorial, and with no hours or pricing listed, it's worth a call ahead before you build a day around it. But for anyone staying in Nags Head who wants a quiet, local patch of green rather than another beach access point, it's a reasonable stop.

This is a very nice quaint place. Tucked off the main road. Small hiking trail nearby. Also, playgrounds are a little on the advanced side. Still is a great quiet spot

Shade. Quiet. Awesome. Large climbing jym (5-12 yo). Bathrooms and water bottle filler.
