Ocean Sands is a Corolla, NC address on the northern stretch of the Outer Banks' barrier island, several miles south of the shops, restaurants, and historic district built up around the Currituck Beach Lighthouse and Whalehead Club. Corolla is a paved-road town — NC-12 runs through it before the pavement gives out farther north, where the road turns to open beach and the wild Spanish mustangs managed by the Corolla Wild Horse Fund roam freely. Ocean Sands sits comfortably within that paved section, well south of the 4x4-only area.

Great community very close to stores an the beach. No trailers allowed which was an issue for us coming a long way with motorcycles for bike week

I really like the area and our home for the week. Caroline Designs was very responsive to our needs during the week. We will NOT come back to Ocean Sands, though. No trailer rule is ridiculous. They want out-of-towners to come and spend money but cannot even keep your unmarked, discreet, trailer In the driveway, under the house and out of site. Other areas offer trailer parking for less than $10 a day. Ocean Sands sends you to A1 towing who charges $125 for the week. They must be getting a cut as A1 only takes cash!

We have been visiting OBX for 40 years. A large portion of those years were in Ocean Sands. A lovely area. Already booked for next year.

Beautiful area, but the locals are a bit pretentious and there are far too many rules. Like, no small trailers?? What’s a trailer gonna do, ruin the aesthetic of the entire town?
