ORV Ramp 67

Ramp 67 is one of the numbered beach access points along NC-12 on the undeveloped, northern stretch of Ocracoke Island, all of it part of Cape Hatteras National Seashore. It's a sand cut through the dune line used by permitted off-road vehicles and by anyone who'd rather park and walk in. Driving the beach here requires a valid National Park Service ORV permit, available online or at the Ocracoke NPS office; walking in doesn't require one. There's no facility at the ramp itself — no restrooms, no lifeguard stand, nothing but the access point — so this is a stop for visitors who already have gear and permit sorted before they arrive. What's on the other side is the actual draw: a long, largely uncrowded stretch of Atlantic beach backed by grassy dunes, part of the same undeveloped shoreline that runs most of the island's length north of the village. Sand conditions shift with weather and tide, so a vehicle with decent ground clearance and properly aired-down tires handles the ramp itself more easily than one set up for pavement.
