Sunset View Ocracoke!
The best seat on Ocracoke for watching the sun drop into Pamlico Sound
About
Sunset View Ocracoke is a small pull-off on National Park Service land a short distance north of the village, oriented toward Pamlico Sound rather than the ocean. Ocracoke's soundside faces west, so this stretch of NPS Rd catches the sun going down over open water instead of coming up over it, with none of the crowds a beach access ramp draws on a summer evening.
There's no facility built up around it — no shop, no deck, just a wide, flat view of the sound. Park along the road, walk to the water's edge, and give it a few extra minutes after the sun actually disappears, since the color over the sound tends to hold and build afterward. Bug spray is worth having at dusk, as it is anywhere along the sound side of the island. It's an easy stop to add after a ferry crossing or a walk through the village, and about as low-key a way as there is to close out a day on Ocracoke.

One of the best and easiest spots to get to if you can’t see the sound sunset from where you are staying. Easy access, plenty of parking and fishing as well.

Beautiful view that's a rare sight on the East Coast. Make sure you see this on a visit to Ocracoke.
