Tuna Beach Access

Tuna Beach Access is one of Corolla's public beach access points, sitting along Lighthouse Drive within walking distance of the town's historic district — the Currituck Beach Lighthouse, the Whalehead Club, and Currituck Heritage Park are all close by. Like the other public accesses scattered through Corolla, it's a simple dune crossover from the road to the sand, useful for visitors staying nearby or anyone after open beach without heading further into the village center.

This part of Corolla sits on paved road, so a standard car gets you here — no 4x4 required, unlike the beaches north of the village limits where Carova's wild horses roam and the pavement simply ends. Parking at Corolla's public accesses fills up quickly through the summer season, so an early start improves your odds of a spot close to the crossover. Shoulder season, April through May and September into October, is the easier bet if you want the beach without the peak-season crowds.
