Jurassic Putt

Dinosaur-pun mini golf on Nags Head's Croatan Highway strip, open daily into the evening

Nags Head, NC

About

Jurassic Putt sits along the Croatan Highway corridor in Nags Head, part of the continuous run of shops, arcades, and family stops that lines US-158 through the northern Outer Banks beach towns. The prehistoric pun in the name says it all: this is mini golf built for an easy, low-stakes evening after a day at the beach, not a big production. It's a solid option for restless kids, a group looking to fill an hour before dinner, or anyone wanting a break from the sand that doesn't require reapplying sunscreen.

The course runs daily, generally opening at 10 in the morning and staying open into the evening, with Tuesday hours stretching a little later than the rest of the week. Like most putt-putt spots on this stretch of Beach Road, it's set up for walk-up play rather than advance booking — show up, grab a putter, and start a round.

Because it's in Nags Head, Jurassic Putt is a short drive or bike ride from the town's bigger draws, including Jockey's Ridge State Park and the public beach accesses along the Croatan Highway corridor. It's less a reason to plan a trip around and more an easy add-on for an evening when you're already in town. Call ahead if you want to double-check current hours, since seasonal changes are common for small attractions like this one.

My family and I visited this course during vacation with our 6 year old. The course is in poor shape with most of the dinosaurs missing or falling apart. The courses themselves are very simple in difficulty. They are peeling away and rough to putt on. The brick borders are not stable so if you step on them you could trip and hurt yourself (one of us did). Needs serious updating and repair.

Very poor course. All of the holes are very basic and it has nothing special. There are also mosquittos everywhere that are constantly biting your legs and body

In need of a major upgrade. Many of the holes need the turf repaired. Made it through the 18 holes and had fun despite how run down it was. Cash only - bummer.

Try a different place. This one’s way outdated, grass and weeds are bad. Need a lot of maintenance. Only allowed 5 at most
