A straightforward motel stay in Avon, close to the sound and NC-12
Avon Motel is a straightforward, no-frills place to sleep in the village of Avon, roughly midway down Hatteras Island between the Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo cluster to the north and Buxton to the south. Everything here runs off NC-12, the single road tying the island's villages together, so you're rarely more than a few minutes from the beach, the sound, or the next village over.
Avon itself is one of the more low-key stops on Hatteras Island — a fishing and watersports village rather than a resort strip, with Pamlico Sound on one side and Cape Hatteras National Seashore beach on the other. It's a reasonable pick if you want a bed near the water without needing anything fancy, and it puts you close enough to Buxton to make the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse (currently closed for climbing, but still worth a stop) an easy short drive.

No frills or thrills just a nice quiet place to sleep and take a shower before going back to the beach. The ladies in the office were nice and give you a free bag of ice each day. The room was pretty clean and had good cold air-conditioning and nice hot shower. You can park your vehicle right outside your room door so that is a plus. Just a short walk to the ocean and easy walking to the pier. Lots of food options and shopping close by.

Our daughter and family stayed there 4 nights this week. Both rooms were clean and free of bugs. Short walk to the ocean. Excellent choice for being close to everything. I would certainly consider staying there. Update 7/726 we are going there for a couple days today. Excited to be at the beach. We enjoyed our stay there. Excellent value.

Comfortable little motel in a good location. I do agree with the other comments about wishing there were curtains. The outside light is pretty obnoxious at night and the blinds do not block it out well. Aside from that, I would stay here again!
