We just stayed there for 4 nights last week. We use to come yearly in stay in ocracoke ina house before Dorian, this was our first time back since. Admittedly, i was hesitant to book this “hotel/inn” … just thinking it would be rundown. Poor judgment on my part, this place was much much more than we expected. Was just wife and i and we stayed on the 1st floor. Room had one bath and a second partial bath which was very nice. Beautiful view over looking the harbor and listening to the band off our deck at Jolly Rodgers. Yes the place is a little older, but it is very clean, nice, and stocked well. I can’t express how perfect it was for the wife and I. We are going to definitely be making this a yearly stay for just us two! We are going back at the end of the month ave wish we were staying here again.
While we haven't slept EVERYWHERE in Ocracoke, NC over the past 42 years since our first visit, I can say that, of the many places we've rested our heads, Captain's Landing has been the very best! Our helpful hostess Betty was also the best! The location is ideal and picturesque. Our room was a spacious suite, with a complete kitchen and amenity-filled, including a large balcony overlooking Silver Lake and the Ocracoke Lighthouse. Or, guests can stay inside and enjoy the wonderful harbor-view in air-conditioned comfort. You can park your vehicle and walk to most Ocracoke attractions in minutes. Or, you can drive your 4x4 to the beach in a few minutes more and spend time under your Shibumi on the most beautiful beach you'll ever visit. Excellent maid service every day. There were no significant 'negatives' about our stay at Captains Landing. And, by the way, I don't think there are any pet-friendly rooms, but, there is a great, local answer to the question, "What about my dog?" During the summer months, the best kennel you'll ever experience, Sandy Paws Bed & Biscuit Inn, can accommodate the pooch only minutes away from Captain's Landing! Janet, the proprietor, will care for your pet like it is her own. And, you can check-out and check-in your pet during its stay on the Island. But, that's a whole other 5-star review!
The most lovely hospitality! Miss Betty, could not have been kinder or more helpful. The room was clean and well stocked. The furnishings are old and maybe not quite as comfortable as you might wish but that won't keep us away. Great views, nice people.
We have been coming to the outer banks since 2000. Staying on Hatteras and Ocracoke, sometimes twice a year. Captain's landing has been our go to for our anniversary for the past 6 years. The owners and staff are top notch! We wouldn't stay anywhere else on the island. Clean, welcoming, and homely feel is what we love ❤️.

The suite was clean, well maintained, and had the best view on Ocracoke. Deena and Betty were so accommodating. We rented bikes for the week but ended up only keeping them 2 days. Betty credited us for those days and we got a golf cart instead. The gift shop has quite a selection. The items are of great quality and prices were extremely reasonable. We had an amazing week. I hope to stay there again in room 201. Breakfast on the balcony/deck was fantastic as was a glass of wine in the evenings watching the lighthouse across the lake. I usually stay in the Nags Head area but this is my new favorite. The room was certainly better priced than accommodations at Nags Head and the management more personable. Amazing week.
