The village sits along NC-12, the only road linking the island's string of communities, and is the departure point for the free NC ferry to Ocracoke Island. NC-12 does close periodically during storms, and hurricane season (June through November) is worth planning around here more than in most of the region.

One bedroom condo had a front sitting area for sunsets, & balcony for sunrise, pool view & ocean view. Windsurfers going by a plus. Deer were a nice surprise. Live web cam of ocean waves & pool excellent. Elevator excellent! Walkway to pool & beach in great condition. Parking was good. Wi-Fi very good.

THE GOOD ---we were very pleased with the cleanliness upon arrival ---kitchen appliances, cabinets and equipment were all in excellent order looking almost new ---the courtesy housekeeping package was a nice touch and appreciated ---multiple dog waste stations are available which we didn't need but is thoughtful property management by the HOA ---and one of the greatest features of Durant Station is the handheld spigot with a short hose at the sand shower station. Makes cleaning off legs, feet and any other items very convenient versus the standard knee height stationary nozzles. SUGGESTIONS FOR UNIT OWNER We felt the unit was very nice and were pleased with our accommodations but feel these modifications would make the unit a 10/10 ---the deck should have a full size (3' x 3' ?) high square table on the balcony for meals to be enjoyed around a table versus only at the "diner" style counter. This dining option combined with that view would be a HUGE plus. The chairs should also be the next height up (which are available) as the current ones have a beach sightline disrupted by the balcony railing and bars which is annoying when you're specifically paying for that view (and we're tall). The neighboring deck to the south has this set up which would make us strongly consider staying at that unit over yours for our next visit. ---padded barstools at the counter would be a welcome upgrade but not a deal killer ---the blades on the living room ceiling fan have presumably yellowed from age and high use as this is a non-smoking unit and I found no evidence (smell or site) of smoking activity. A pack of new blades is only $34 at Lowes and it's just a bad look for such a nice unit ---Installation of felt tips to the legs of the coffee tables and barstools would be a courteous (and easy) modification for the benefit of the guests below this unit ---Adding a DVD player in the living room would be a convenient addition for viewing movies from the comfort of the couch SUGGESTIONS FOR GUESTS ---When booking with Vacasa use the local number and offices. Don't waste your time with the international operators. ---Bring a large bathmat, (3) small trash can liners and (3) rolls of your favorite toilet paper as Vacasa doesn't care about your bottom as much as their own bottom...line ---we recommend the 'TAVERN on 12" restaurant. Service here is fast, efficient and very friendly! THE DISCONCERTING This property does have a problem with trespassers using the convenient beach access, parking, pool and other amenities meant for guests use only. We do believe its common knowledge that Durant Stations' amenities are unguarded and that unauthorized use will go unchallenged which as a paying guest is VERY aggravating and insulting. Our second stay here, and unfortunately we had to deal with Hurricanes Humberto and Isabel. But the condo was nice, perfect for the two of us and our dog. Lovely Ocean front views

Excellent rooms nicely decorated and kitchen stocked extremely well. Very clean excellent place to vacation the beach isn't crowded you have ocean view from master bedroom and livingroom. It was very clean. I will stay again if its available when I vacation next year. Loved it so much I really had a good time and I feel like I got lots of sun and relaxation there's also a pool and got hot tub. Excellent!
