Just spent 3 days 2 nights in Ocracoke and stayed at the Harborside Inn. The staff was very friendly, inviting, answered all questions, and made me feel like a regular customer. The rates were reasonable, rooms were clean and well maintained. Also, they are in the heart of Ocracoke soost everything is in walking distance. Further, last August when Hwy 12 was closed due to a storm, the refunded my reservation with no hesitation. Are they top line corporate motel... No. But for a nostalgic family stay, they are awesome.
A day trip turned into a night on the island and Harbor Inn came through for us. Great staff, old fashioned hospitality, rooms were crisp, clean, with all the ammenities. Frankly it's a great value for the money. Plus, you're in the heart of Ocracoke and everything is within a convenient walk. We will be there again.
Very excellent stay. The front desk operator, and owner of the establishment was extremely friendly, and very down to earth. The rooms are in good condition and dated in a rustic and pleasing way. It is very close to the dock, and is centrally located. 10/10 would stay again!
The people in the office were very accommodating. The room did have a slight smell when we first walked in, but we got use to it. Shower water pressure was awesome! The ladies were great that cleaned our room and gave us clean towels, etc.! Don't forget to tip them!
This is 'our kinda place.' Simple, small yet beautiful one-of-a-kind, with it's own dock overlooking the harbor for quiet sunsets. We loved 'the efficiency' with a full kitchen and refrigerator so we could cook fresh catch if we wanted. Walking distance within everything: 5 star restaurants or great sandwiches for the beach. The proprietors' company was always pleasant, their gift shop is one of the best on the island. I even bought earrings where if I lost one and I did, the company in Vermont replaced it. We were lucky to reserve another week for this June's music festival ... can't wait.
