Right on Silver Lake Harbor, an easy walk to Ocracoke village's restaurants and shops
Ocracoke Harbor Inn sits right on Silver Lake Dr, overlooking the harbor at the heart of Ocracoke village — the remote, boat-only outpost at the southern end of the Outer Banks. From here, the village's restaurants, shops, and the working harbor itself are all an easy walk away, with Springer's Point and Ocracoke Lighthouse just a bit further down the road.
However you arrive, Ocracoke takes a bit of planning. The free NC ferry from Hatteras village (about an hour) is the most common route, but it lands roughly 13 miles north of the village, out along NC-12 near the undeveloped stretch of the National Seashore — so budget time for the drive down the island after you disembark. The toll ferries from Cedar Island and Swan Quarter, on the other hand, take about 2 hours and 15 minutes from the mainland but dock right at Silver Lake, an easy walk from the inn's door.
Because the island has no bridge or road connection, ferry schedules — and occasional suspensions during hurricane season, roughly June through November — are worth checking before you lock in dates.

Great getaway spot. Second floor and above has the better room. But they all are very cute and quaint. Breakfast includes. Good water pressure. Good pillows, good mattresses. Great night sleep. Slight recommendation is routine AC clean with the amount of heat and humidity on island they get dirty fast and we could smell it in our room. Will definitely return.

My husband and I stayed here for our 2 year wedding anniversary. We booked early and got (in my opinion) the very best room, suite 401. It was perfect! It was the only room right on the water. All other rooms were across the street. We loved Ocracoke but found ourselves just wanting to stay in the room most times just staring out the big windows at the bay. We saw amazing sunsets and sunrises. The shower was small, but the water pressure was fantastic so it made up for it. 10/10 spot. We could walk almost anywhere.
