A vacation rental in Rodanthe, right on NC-12 at the north end of Hatteras Island
Pamlico Station Edgecamp is a vacation rental in Rodanthe, sitting on NC-12 at the northern end of Hatteras Island — the stretch that also takes in Waves and Salvo. Getting here means crossing the Marc Basnight Bridge over Oregon Inlet from Whalebone Junction, then following NC-12 down a barrier island that sits entirely within Cape Hatteras National Seashore, the first national seashore established in the United States.
Weather is worth planning around on this part of the Outer Banks. Hurricane season runs June through November, with the highest risk window in August, September, and October, and NC-12 can close temporarily when storms push water over the road — a regular feature of life here, not a rare event. Shoulder season, April into May and again September into October, tends to be calmer and less crowded. Beach driving with an NPS ORV permit is allowed on this stretch of Hatteras Island, unlike the core beaches farther north.

My only complaint is how easily noise traveled between rooms. I don't think the people above us were necessarily tap dancing until after 11pm but it sounded like they were. There were very few customers around during our stay, so I don't know why more of an effort to spread people out across the facility was not made.

Really cool room. I loved the retro design and the location is great as well. My only issues are the room was very cold and there’s no options to change the room temperature. 68 was too cool for my wife. There was also an old smell to the room. Lastly, the air handler makes a loud, heavy machinery noise when the A/C kicks on. Very startling in the middle of the night.
