Salvo Inn Motel

A simple, motel-style stay in Rodanthe, close to the Hatteras Island beach and NC-12

Rodanthe, NC

About

Salvo Inn Motel sits on Sand Street in Rodanthe, the northernmost of the three strung-together villages — Rodanthe, Waves, and Salvo — that open up once you cross the Marc Basnight Bridge over Oregon Inlet onto Hatteras Island. It's a modest, motel-style place to stay, putting the beach, NC-12, and the surf-fishing and kiteboarding water this stretch of the Outer Banks is known for within easy reach.

Rodanthe sits entirely within Cape Hatteras National Seashore, on a narrower, more exposed piece of barrier island than the beaches to the north — part of the draw for travelers after quiet, undeveloped coastline. It's also a real consideration during hurricane season (June through November, with the sharpest risk August through October), when NC-12 can close or wash out. Shoulder season, April through May and September through October, tends to be the calmer, more pleasant window to visit.

I stay here at least once a year, sometimes more. It's a quiet, Family-Run business, close to the beach and beyond tranquil. I enjoy my trips and getting to meet the eclectic regulars who add to the character of this historic hotel. I'll take this over those boring chains any day!

My forth stay here. Very reasonable. Staff is very nice and accommodating. Nice location, close to food, shopping and things to do. In the process of renovations and the rooms are clean and bright. Comfortable beds. Rocking chairs on the deck right outside of your room to sit out and enjoy morning views, sounds of waves crashing on shore and the breeze in the evening. Quiet neighborhood.

The Inn is being remodeled, it's a work in progress but the place is great. Rooms are simple, clean, and comfortable. All basic needs are met, it has everything you need if you don't plan to spend your vacation in a hotel room. Taylor is very friendly and seems like a great guy. Price was excellent. We will definitely be back.

LOVED everything about the little efficiency room! Clean, updated, and we were in need of a new place to stay in a short period of time... Tyler got us in hours early. Quiet place. A walk to the beach right up the road and other amenities with in walking distance! Highly recommend!

My room was spacious, spotless, and had a remarkably comfortable bed and THE BEST PILLOWS! The location is perfect with a short walk to the beach and has ample parking. I highly recommend staying here. Taylor, the owner is a wonderful host and has truly made this place a great place to be.
