Avoid. No elevator. No signs saying out of order. All doors outside jammed open to stay open. No hot water. Doors to the room. Get ready for workout. Like pushing a boulder. Wash off after beach. Nope Pool. Closed

Simple, no-frills rooms on Kill Devil Hills' Beach Road, built for travelers who'd rather be outside than in the lobby
Spark by Hilton Outer Banks Kill Devil Hills sits on Virginia Dare Trail, the Beach Road corridor that runs the length of Kill Devil Hills just off the Atlantic. It's part of Hilton's newer Spark brand, built around a simple formula: clean, modern rooms and a fast check-in instead of a full slate of resort amenities — a practical pick for travelers who'd rather put their money into beach days than a fancy lobby.
The location puts guests close to two of the northern Outer Banks' defining landmarks: the Wright Brothers National Memorial, the actual site of the first powered flight in 1903, and Jockey's Ridge State Park a few miles south in Nags Head, home to the tallest natural sand dune system on the East Coast. Beach access along this stretch is walk-on only — there's no beach driving in Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, or Kitty Hawk, so pack accordingly.
As a newer property, it hasn't built up a public review history yet, so it's worth a quick look at current guest feedback and room photos directly through Hilton before booking. Like the rest of the northern beaches, expect the busiest stretch to run Memorial Day through Labor Day, with April, May, September, and October offering a calmer, less crowded visit.

Great location but unfortunately not maintained well at all. Especially considering it’s under a Hilton brand. A very experience overall- rooms, hallways, carpet, coffee machine, water fountains, breakfast, accessibility- all were bad experience for us.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had a great experience staying at the Spark by Hilton. The property is currently going through a remodel, and you can definitely see that they are working hard to make improvements. From what we saw, the property has a lot of potential and will be even better once everything is fully completed. I understand that some guests may experience a few inconveniences while a property is being remodeled, but I think it’s important to give the owners and staff a chance to finish the improvements before judging the hotel. The location is great, the price was very reasonable, and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Actually, we had to cancel our stay at another Days Inn and decided to stay here instead, and I’m very glad we did. We had a much better experience and truly enjoyed our stay. I would definitely recommend giving this property a chance, especially while they are working toward completing the remodel. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished property operating at its full potential. 👍🌊🏨 Great value, friendly staff, and a property with a lot of potential!

Rooms are small but newly renovated so its really nice. Directly on the beach which is nice if you like the beach.

Do not stay here! The price point for this hotel is absolutely absurd considering all the issues. Ill start with the room insulation...i can hear the entire conversation from the room next door at all times no matter how quiet they are. The doors slam so hard they shake the room and woke me up at 7am today. Couldnt go back to sleep because the noises never stop. No elevator in the hotel. Pool isnt working due to permits. Night manager walked right past us as we were standing at the desk waiting for a toothbrush and went to the back without saying a word and never reappeared. Then i came back an hour later and there was a sign at the desk stating theyve stepped away. Certainly my first time experiencing that. When i arrived, the tv wasnt working so we were upset about that just to investigate and the cable box and tv were both unplugged. I had to move the dresser just to watch tv. The shower curtain has fold marks as if it came straight from the factory box with whatever chemicals and dirt may be on it. The towels smell new and unwashed. The toilet paper was on the holder while still in the tissue paper covering. The bathrooms dont have exhaust fans. The "free" breakfast is literally hard boiled eggs, stale bagels and coffee. Thats it. All-in-all we should have never paid this price for this hotel and certainly wont do it again.
