I had such a great stay at The Atlantic Inn and highly recommend it! The rooms are so cozy, each one is unique, and the whole inn is immaculately clean. Like remarkably so for being at the beach! I stayed in the Starboard room which has a real old school Hatteras feel with dark wood paneling. Mitch and Katie couldn't be nicer; you can really tell that they're passionate about what they do and it translates to the whole vibe of the inn. The food is also amazing! Great breakfasts and homemade snacks/treats available throughout the day; my faves were the biscuits with sausage gravy, berry muffins, and banana bread. There's no daily housekeeping which wasn't an issue for me because it was just me in my room but that might be a bit of a challenge for families. Overall just a great experience and I can't wait to visit again!

My entire experience at The Atlantic Inn at Hatteras was spectacular. It was a surprise trip for me and I felt like I was at a home away from home. The innkeepers Katie and Mitch and family were very thoughtful and accommodating (we booked an extra day last minute). Every detail in the inn is beautiful, curated to capture the historical background while making you feel cozy. The inn is impeccable, the cleanliness was at a level I hadn’t seen in hotels. Every room having its own special theme is super cute, we stayed at The Mermaid and Starboard and both had their own special charm. The food is amazing, both the delicious snacks throughout the inn and the breakfast. They focus on using fresh ingredients in their baked goodies and food and it really shines through in the flavor. It’s a great experience I’d recommend for anyone visiting the islands.

Our stay at The Atlantic Inn was awesome! We arrived early (an hour before check-in) and Katie greeted us with a smile and a warm welcome. The Atlantic Inn is tastefully decorated, immaculately clean, and very warm & inviting! They have thought of everything with snacks & drinks available in the main lobby as well as a few goodies in the upstairs lounge area. We stayed in the “Surf’s Up” room. The king size bed was really comfortable. Starting at 8, they offer a breakfast bar with coffee, juice, fresh fruit, yogurt, homemade granola, bread, and baked goods. Then they serve a plated gourmet hot breakfast starting at 8:30. This was probably one of our top bed and breakfast stays ever! Katie & Mitch are awesome and very accommodating!

We had such a wonderful stay this past weekend! Katie and Mitch were truly amazing host! So welcoming and thoughtful, which made the whole experience feel extra special from the moment we arrived. The inn itself was incredibly relaxing, clean, and cozy. Our bed was super comfortable, and everything was spotless and well cared for. Breakfast each morning was absolutely lovely, and the extra snacks and treats throughout our stay were such a thoughtful touch that didn’t go unnoticed. And I have to mention—the coffee was SO good! I also really appreciated the care they took regarding my celiac disease. While they were transparent about not having a dedicated gluten-free kitchen, they still offered gluten-free options, which was more than I expected. I felt comfortable during my stay and didn’t have any issues—just something to be mindful of and use your own discretion, as always. The location is another huge plus—just a short distance to the beach, shopping, ice cream, and several great restaurants. We especially loved our morning walk from the inn to the Seabreeze Trail, it was the perfect way to start the day. We left feeling refreshed and already can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend this gem!

The Atlantic Inn was so charming and the owners were very friendly. The place is clean and homey, with little snacks/drinks peppered all over the place. The baking was stellar! There was a new sweet treat at the front desk every day and the breakfast spread was delicious. There’s also live music some nights and a nice outdoor space. Stayed there for a few nights while we were waiting for the rest of our family to meet us for family vacation and it was a lovely little getaway for the two of us. Would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay at hatteras! Only bummer is that it’s not directly on the beach.
