Village lodging in Ocracoke, an easy walk from Silver Lake Harbor
The Silver Lake Hotel at Ocracoke sits right in the village, close enough to Silver Lake Harbor that you can walk to the shops, restaurants, and docks clustered around it. This corner of the Outer Banks isn't reachable by road; every visitor arrives by water or air, which makes the trip itself part of the appeal.
Three ferries serve Ocracoke, and they don't all land in the same place. The free NC ferry from Hatteras village takes about an hour, but it puts you ashore at the north end of the island, roughly 13 miles up NC-12 from the village, so plan on that drive before you reach the hotel. The toll ferries from Cedar Island and Swan Quarter, each around 2.25 hours, dock directly at Silver Lake Harbor in the village itself, a short walk from the door. A small island airstrip is also an option if you're flying in private.
If you're booking during hurricane season (June through November), keep an eye on the forecast: Ocracoke has no bridge out, and ferries and the island itself can be shut down or evacuated faster than almost anywhere else on the Outer Banks.

This was a nice little establishment to stay for a night as I continued my journey towards the Kill Devil Hills area. There's not exactly any sort of elevator, but I had no issue getting my luggage up to the second floor.

We had an amazing experience and absolutely loved our stay here! The location was perfect conveniently located and within walking distance of just about everything. Our favorite amenity was the complimentary bikes, which were a great way to get around and explore everything the island has to offer. We highly recommend staying here and would definitely come back!

Situated in the heart of Ocracoke, the location is fantastic; additionally, the rooms are amazing and every little detail has been thought of! Thanks to the hospitality of the staff, we quickly felt at ease, and the free-to-use bicycles make it easy to explore the island. All in all, we enjoyed it immensely!

The staff are absolutely fantastic, we had a few quirks with our room when we checked in, they immediately looked into our concerns and handled everything with kindness and professionalism. Rooms are beautifully redone & kept exceptionally clean. You have a beautiful view in any room and the hotel is right in the middle of everything the island has to offer. We look forward to staying again soon!

The room was all we needed nice new no complaints. The service was over the top outstanding fantastic. The clerk walked me to the room and made sure I knew how to use the lock and everything was good with the room. It’s centrally located in the middle of everything..
