About

Wright Brothers Multi Use Path is a paved path set on a residential street in Kitty Hawk, officially listed as a park rather than a state-run trail with a visitor center or posted amenities. There's no website, no listed hours, and no trail description on file — what we know comes down to its name and location. The name is a nod to the Outer Banks' most famous claim to fame: the Wright brothers made the first powered flights a few miles south in Kill Devil Hills in 1903.

  • Paved, multi-use design suited to walking, jogging, and biking
  • Located on Windgrass Circle, a residential street off the main Beach Road/Croatan Highway corridor
  • No listed hours, website, or admission fee — worth confirming current conditions locally before visiting

Treat it as a neighborhood stretch of pavement rather than a signature Outer Banks attraction: a quiet option for a walk or bike ride if you're staying in this part of Kitty Hawk, without the crowds or roadside traffic of the Beach Road strip.

Disappointed where the bike trail took us...a busy road. The fist half mile was nice, like the pictures others are posting, but the trail leads to a neighborhood with no sidewalk and then a busy road.

The water level of the estuary seemed very low to me; however, there was no bad smell characteristic of the summer.
