Coast & Go

Coast & Go operates out of Trent Rd in Ocracoke village, a short walk from Silver Lake Harbor, offering local transportation for getting around the island. The office keeps consistent hours seven days a week, 8:30am to 5:30pm, which covers most of the day for visitors arriving on the morning ferry or making plans ahead of an afternoon crossing.

Getting to Ocracoke at all takes some doing — the free NC ferry from Hatteras village runs about an hour, and the toll ferries from Cedar Island and Swan Quarter each take roughly 2.25 hours from the mainland. There's no bridge or road connection, so once visitors arrive, moving around becomes its own small logistics problem: the village clusters tightly around the harbor, but the beach access ramps, the pony pen, and the rest of the roughly 13-mile island run north along NC-12 through National Park Service land.
