How to use this map
Every pin type is its own layer — tap a chip above the map to show or hide it. Start with Visitor Centers and Landmarks to get oriented, then turn on Camping or Lodging to see how close a place actually is to where you'll spend your day. Trailheads and Parks & Visitor Info are off by default — flip them on once you've narrowed things down.

Does this map show the actual trails, or just pins?
Right now it plots trailheads, listings, and infrastructure as pins -- not the literal trail line on the ground. Real trail-line overlays are on our roadmap as we backfill trail geometry for more hikes.
Is there a gated entrance like a national park?
No -- Cape Hatteras National Seashore is a long barrier-island seashore along Highway 12, with no staffed entrance gates. There's no 'Entrances' layer here the way there is for parks with gates.
Why are Trailheads and Parks & Visitor Info off by default?
Showing every layer at once on load gets cluttered fast. Tap a layer's chip above the map to turn it on.
Can I use this to plan where to stay?
Yes -- turn on Lodging and/or Camping and compare pins against the visitor centers and lighthouses to judge how close (or far) a property really is from where you'll spend your day.
